Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India today in Rashtrapati Bhavan paid floral tribute to the third President of India Zakir Hussain on his birth anniversary.
In the Durbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, along with the President, the officers and staff also paid tribute to the portrait of Dr. Zakir Hussain. He passed way on May 1969.
Mr. Hussain was the first Muslim president of the country and is also the first to die in the office. From 1957 to 1962, he served as Governor of Bihar. In 1963, he was also awarded the Bharat Ratna.
