Prateik Babbar has declared his intention to adopt a new name that pays tribute to his late mother, the illustrious actress Smita Patil. Prateik has stated that he wants his name to appear in movie credits as Prateik Patil Babbar going forward. Raj Babbar and Smita's son Prateil are both actors. He has been performing for more than 15 years.

Actor Prateik Babbar has made the decision to rename himself. His new name is a tribute to the late Smita Patil, an actress. As it currently appears on his Instagram handle, Prateik will now be referred to as Prateik Patil Babbar.

Raj Babbar, an actor, and Smita are the parents of Prateik. With the movie Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, Prateik made his acting debut. starring Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza, . He last appeared in India Lockdown by Madhur Bhandarkar.

The actor explained that the decision was "part superstitious, part sentimental," “When my name appears in film credits or anywhere for that matter, I want it to be a reminder to myself, the people, & the audience of her extraordinary & remarkable legacy, of my legacy. A reminder of her brilliance & greatness.”

Prateik has already changes his name on social media accounts to include Patil. In a statement, the actor said, “With the blessings of my father and my entire family, my late maternal grandparents and my late mother, I have decided to add my mother's last name as my middle name, giving birth to my new screen name ‘Prateik Patil Babbar’.

Weeks after Prateik was born in 1986, Smita Patil passed away from complications during childbirth. In Mumbai, Prateik was reared by his maternal grandparents. While he had previously acknowledged that their relationship had initially been difficult, Raj Babbar is his father. He further clarified that they made up when Prateik reached adulthood. Nadira Babbar and Raj Babbar got married. Prateik's half-siblings are Arya and Juhi Babbar.

Most people agree that Smita Patil is among the best actresses in Indian film history. In her short career, she received praise for a variety of parts, including those in Mirch Masala, Mandi, and Arth as well as commercial successes like Namak Halal. She also won several accolades.
