Pratima Bhoumik to inaugurate the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development in Imphal

On Monday, Pratima Bhoumik, a Union minister, will open a new Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in Imphal, Manipur. Bhoumik, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, would also open a camp to provide aids and assistive equipment to people with impairments (PwDs).

The Manipur government's Social Welfare department has offered a rent-free temporary infrastructure within the campus of the Juvenile Justice Board at Takyel-pat in Imphal, West Manipur, for the new Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment (CRCSRE).

The Manipur government has also provided 3 acres of free land for the construction of a permanent building for CRCSRE, according to a statement from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. "Various machineries and equipment for the departments of PT, OT, P&O, Hearing, Clinical Psychology, and Special Education have been bought and commissioned for operation at CRCSRE," according to the statement.

Divyangjan will receive assistive devices such as a tricycle, wheelchair, axilary crutches, elbow crutches, walking stick, smart cane, daizy player, MSIED kit, smartphone, and hearing aid for many types of disability. The function will also be attended by Anjali Bhawra, secretary, and Dr. Prabodh Seth, joint secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
