Lucknow: In the aftermath of the shocking attack by B-tech student Lareb Hashmi on a bus conductor in Prayagraj, disturbing revelations are surfacing about his radical inclinations. According to police sources, Hashmi frequently listened to Jihadi speeches on his mobile phone, often featuring Pakistani Maulanas. The search history on his mobile indicates a significant number of links related to Jihadi content. The forensic examination of Hashmi's mobile is underway, exploring the potential of terrorist connections.

Video Confession and Forensic Examination

Hashmi, after committing the crime, recorded a video confession. Authorities have sent his computer, mobile, pen drive, and chip found at his residence to the forensic lab. An investigation into the bank passbooks of Hashmi and his family members has commenced. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) are actively involved in the inquiry. Close associates of Hashmi have also been detained for questioning, while the college has suspended him, initiating expulsion proceedings.

Self-Radicalization through YouTube

The investigation has unveiled that Hashmi, enrolled in a private engineering college, spent the last eight months watching Jihadi videos until the early hours. Maulana Khadim Hussain Rizvi, a Pakistani cleric, particularly influenced him. Hashmi began incorporating Pakistani words verbatim after listening to Rizvi's speeches. Similar to the case of Gorakhpur temple attack accused Ahmed Murtaza, Hashmi became self-radicalized through YouTube.

Influence of Khadim Hussain Rizvi

Hashmi's influence by Pakistani Maulana Khadim Hussain Rizvi is evident in the video confession. Rizvi is quoted as saying, "O Khadim Hussain Rizvi, you had said, go out in the name of Allah, angels will come, do not commit even a single murder, the enemies of Islam will pile up dead bodies." Khadim Hussain Rizvi was the founder of Tehreek-e-Labbek.

Community Response and Media Attention

After the sensational incident in Prayagraj, Hashmi's house remains locked, drawing media attention. Local residents express surprise, noting that Hashmi was a studious individual who rarely engaged with others and had no apparent disputes. The community is baffled by his drastic actions.
