Prayagraj: The water level of Ganga and Yumana in the Sangam area of Prayagraj has started rising rapidly. The water level has increased due to heavy rains over the past several days. With this, the water level of the Ganga has increased due to the rain in Uttarakhand and the rain in Madhya Pradesh is increasing the water level in yamuna. The water level of Yumna is rising faster than the water level of the Ganga.

With the rise in water level, pilgrims from Sangam area have shifted to safer places by removing the priests' posts. Shopkeepers have also taken their wheelbarrows and other items to safer places. Pilgrim priest Satya Lal Tiwari, Sharad Tiwari, Intent Ram, informed that the water level has been rising continuously for a week but it has picked up more since Saturday morning. The stream of the Ganga is also faster today than in other days. According to the control room report, the water level of the Ganga has risen to 36 cm in 24 hours.

It is estimated that the water level will rise at double the speed by Sunday. With the rise in water level, the sand mounds in the Ganga have completely disappeared. After seeing the rapidly rising water level of the Ganga, it is believed that it will be difficult for devotees to reach the Sangam area without a boat for bathing in the Sangam area within the next two to three days.
