In fact, she had received threatening calls from the underworld for shooting the film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. While Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Gupta, Mahesh Manjrekar, maker-director Rakesh Roshan and many other celebrities withdrew their earlier statements, the actress stood by her point.

According to the information received, underworld don Chhota Shakeel's money was invested in the film while Bharat Shah's money was invested on paper. Even after the threat, there was actress Preity Zinta who had come to the court to testify. Preity Zinta had admitted in court that she was receiving threatening calls from the underworld and money was also being demanded. Preity Zinta's statement was recorded on camera as the case was related to the underworld. The actress said I was very scared and upset and met the film's maker Nazim Rizvi. He asked me not to worry and said everything would be fine. He gave me his cell phone number and asked me to call him if I had any other problem. Later, when the police had a telephone discussion between underworld don Chhota Shakeel and four persons associated with the film industry. The culprits were film financier Bharat Shah, maker Naseem Rizvi, his assistant Abdul Rahim Allah Bakhsh and Dubai jeweler Mohammad Shamshuddin.
