A research from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom found little evidence of a link between hunger and the amount of calories we consume.

According to the research, prepackaged meals that claim to suppress the appetite and keep you feeling fuller for longer is unlikely to affect our overall calorie intake.

The primary cause of being overweight or obese is due to an energy imbalance, which means that there are more calories consumed that the body burns which then results in being overweight or obese.

According to Dr. Bernard Corfe, "The food industry is littered with products which are marketed on the basis of their appetite-modifying properties. Whilst these claims may be true, they shouldn't be extended to imply that energy intake will be reduced as a result.

For example, you could eat a meal which claims to satisfy your appetite and keep you feeling full up for a long period of time but nonetheless go on to consume a large amount of calories later on."
