Let us inform that Yogotsav is being celebrated in India with a very unique initiative, which is based on '100 Days, 100 Cities, 100 Organizations'. In this way, for the last 53 days, this festival is being celebrated in various organizations in many cities belonging to different states of the country. Let us tell you that on September 27, 2014, PM Narendra Modi took the initiative of organizing Yoga Day in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). On December 11, 2014, the UNGA passed this resolution with an absolute majority. Out of 193 member countries of the UNGA, 177 members unanimously approved the proposal to celebrate 21 June as International Yoga Day.

Why June 21 is important for Yoga Day:-

According to Indian culture, this day is the longest day of the year, that is, the time interval between sunrise and sunset is the longest. From this day onwards the direction of movement of the Sun is Dakshinayana and this Dakshinayana position of the Sun is considered most suitable for attaining spiritual mode through yoga. That is why June 21 is also called the summer solstice. This is the reason why this day was chosen as International Yoga Day, which will be celebrated by the world for the 8th time this year.
