President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated an agricultural conference in Kanpur on Wednesday. The international conference is called Agricon 2018 and Agriexpo 2018 which is being held at Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur.

President Kovind said that problems of farmers are different in different regions of a country as vast as India while addressing at the event.

“We will have to find solutions according to their needs. Water is a common concern. In this regard, the government has promoted the concept of "per drop, more crop" and this message should reach every farmer in the country,” he informed.

“The food processing industry should be encouraged to give the farmers a better price and a better deal,”

Kovind suggested we should look at grain production, dairy farming, horticulture, poultry farming, sericulture and animal husbandry collectively as an approach to modern agriculture. He also reiterated the slogan of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” and said it is relevant today more than ever. “While our Army is valiantly battling terrorists and continuously striving to keep our borders and our nation safe, our farmers are working hard to ensure food security for the country,” he explained.

Ram Nath Kovind told that the government is committed to work for the welfare of the armed forces and farmers.
