This festival is celebrated mainly in North India-Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh. On this day, people burn bonfire after sunset and seek blessings. Traditional clothes are worn on this day and popcorn, revadi and peanuts are distributed. Not only that, but on this day, there is a custom of offering sesame, jaggery, Gajak, Revadi and groundnut in the fire.

On this special occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind has also greeted the nation.
