President Kovind On the anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur recalls his supreme sacrifice

New Delhi. Today is the death anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. He was martyred to protect religion this day. Because of their noble thinking and strong affection, not only the Sikh community, but the whole of India honors him very much.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was born on April 1, 1621 in Amritsar, Punjab. He was born in a Sodhi Khatri family. His father Guru Hargobind was the 6th Guru of the Sikh community. Guru Tegh Bahadur's childhood name was Tyagmal but after seeing his bravery in a battle against the Mughals, he was called by the name of Teg Bahadur. Guru Tegh Bahadur went ahead and became the ninth Guru of the Sikh community. He also helped a lot of Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus during Mughal rule. He always looked forward to his religion and he sacrificed his life to protect religion.

President of India Ramnath  Kovind took twitter handle to greet the nation on this occasion, “On the anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, we recall his supreme sacrifice for the cause of human dignity, liberty, freedom of worship. May his teachings and courage always inspire us”, Kovind tweeted.
