New Delhi: On the occasion of former President KR Narayanan's birth anniversary, President Ram Nath Kovind paid a floral tribute to him at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday.

Rashtrapati Bhavan tweeted, "President Ram Nath Kovind paid floral tributes to Shri K. R. Narayanan, former President of India, on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan."

K.R Narayanan, the tenth President of India, was born on October 27, 1920, and served as ambassador to Japan, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Turkey, the People's Republic of China, and the United States of America.

In 1992, Narayanan was elected as the ninth Vice President, and in 1997, he was elected President. He was also the first Dalit to be elected to the legislature.
