Born on June 20, 1958, in Odisha, President Draupadi Murmu began her professional journey as a teacher before venturing into politics. She held the position of Minister of State in the Government of Odisha from 2000 to 2004.
In 2022, Murmu was sworn in as the 15th President of India, making history as the nation's first tribal President and the second woman to assume this esteemed role, following in the footsteps of Pratibha Patil. Her birthplace was the village of Uparbeda in the Baidaposi region of Rairangpur, Odisha.
Draupadi Murmu also served as a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from 2000 to 2009. Subsequently, she served as the Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021, becoming the first female governor of the state.
