President Ram Nath Kovind has given advice to the people of the country, especially the youth, on the occasion of the 71st Republic Day, in the midst of a ruckus over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), after being passed by the Parliament of India. In his address to the nation on the eve of Republic Day, the President said that it is necessary to walk the path of non-violence in the movement over any issue. He clarified that no goal is ever achieved by violence.

President Kovind did not mention the CAA at 7 pm while addressing the countrymen on Saturday. He said that everyone has the right to picket, protest and agitate according to the constitution. According to the constitution, the goals of social and economic development can be achieved only by walking. Those who struggle for any purpose, especially the youth, should always remember Gandhiji's mantra of non-violence, which is his invaluable gift to humanity.

In his statement, the President said that our Constitution has given some rights to all of us as citizens of an independent democracy.
