New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the convocation of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, last Thursday. He said, "He sincerely hopes that if India celebrates the centenary of its independence in 2047, it will be free from discrimination and a developed nation.'' At the same time, he asked the youth not to be job seekers but job givers. In fact, the event was attended by State Governor Anandi Ben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The President laid the foundation stone of Savitribai Phule Women's Hostel on the university campus. In his address, he said, "Today, half of the country's population is under the age of 25. When we celebrate the centenary of independence in 2047, you must be leading the country.'' He also said, "I hope that by 2047, India will be a discrimination-free and developed country through the efforts of your (current) generation. In a future India, we have to imbibe justice, equality, and brotherhood in our personal and social lives."

He also asked the youth to start work with "full resolve" to make India "egalitarian" and strong. Referring to Babasaheb Ambedkar, the President said, "Education does not make any sense if an educated person does not come forward for the welfare of the society. Now our daughters are giving more fame to the country than our sons.''

Speaking about the National Education Policy (NEP) -2020 further, the President said, "The new education policy is designed with the objective of making the country an education superpower. The new education policy is in line with the needs and demands of the 21st century. Our objective of excellence in science and technology will be fulfilled only through the efforts of teachers and students.''
