President Kovind attends Vijay Diwas parade as 'Guest of Honour'

Dhaka: Indian President Ram Nath Kovind attended the Vijay Diwas national event as a Guest of Honour in Bangladesh. The parade is held at the National Parade Ground in Dhaka here. His Excellency Kovind held discussions with Bangladesh's top leadership on the first day of his three-day official visit here. Earlier, President Kovind was accorded a grand welcome on his arrival in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The President is on a visit to Bangladesh to mark 50 years of Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan in 1971. Bangladesh President M Abdul Hamid along with his wife received his Indian counterpart at Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport in Dhaka. President Kovind discussed several issues in a meeting with Hamid Earlier, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina met President Kovind in Dhaka on Wednesday and the two leaders discussed a number of issues of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momin also met President Kovind and briefed him on bilateral cooperation and excellent progress in future joint projects, including progress in the connectivity sector.
