On Thursday, President Ramnath Kovind honored INS Shivaji with the colour of President in Lonavala. Governor Bhagat Koshiyari was also present on the war vessel on this special occasion. Significantly, INS Shivaji was commissioned in 1945 as HMIS Shivaji at Lonavala. It is the first-class training establishment of the Indian Navy.

INS Shivaji has provided 75 years of brilliant service to the nation by training the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Allied Naval Officers in engineering. INS Shivaji has trained over 2 lakh military personnel so far. All courses conducted at INS Shivaji are recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education.

President's colour is the highest honor that is awarded by the President. This honor is given to the military unit for its outstanding work. On Thursday, the President conferred this honor to the officer, who led a group of 130 officers and 630 sailors of the Indian Navy.
