Washington D. C. [USA], July 03 (NT): United States President Donald Trump defended his stance towards levying tariffs of worth billions dollars on many of the nation's associates.

Even all the allies of US retaliated, According to the Hill, Trump and his administration have mainted defensive move that the rising trade deficits were proof of the fact that the United States had been behind internationally for years.

Trump has imposed heavy tariffs on steel and aluminum, on the grounds of national security, on all but a few nations, slapped duties on China over the alleged theft of intellectual property and is also thinking taxes on imported automobiles.

The tariffs have laid on the line on bilateral relationships with allies such as Canada, Mexico and the European Union (EU), threatening to press on the world's crown economies on the brink of a worldwide trade war.

During a White House talks with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Trump hinted that if a trade deal was worked out with the EU, "it'll be positive, and if we don't, it'll be positive also."

The EU and Canada have levied tariffs on US in a tit-for-tat move.
