PCI's team reached at school to investigate salt bread case in Mid Day Meal; questioned children and cooks

Mirzapur: The Press Council of India (PCI) investigation team investigated the salt-bread case in the mid-day meal of the primary school under Hinauta Gram Sabha of Jamalpur Vikas Khand on Saturday. The report of the inquiry will be submitted to the Chairman of the Press Council of India soon and further action will be taken on the basis of the inquiry.

A two-member team of the Press Council of India had reached Shiur village to probe the Mid Day Meal scam. When the team reached the school and questioned the children of different classes about eating salt and bread, the children said that only one day they had got salt and roti, but now they get good food.

The investigation team also asked the children about education, sports, MDM and other related questions. Teachers, cooks and villagers also recorded statements. The investigating team summoned Rukmani and Mamata Devi to the school office and questioned them.

Chefs Rukmani and Mamata have said that whatever material was found earlier was made. On August 22, the children were given salt and roti because of non-availability of dal or vegetables. He also told the investigation team that earlier only one liter of milk was taken for children in a week, but now nine to ten liters of milk is being distributed among the children.
