KINGSTON: President Ram Nath Kovind has arrived in Jamaica for a state visit, the first by an Indian president to the Caribbean nation, during which he will meet with Governor-General Patrick Allen, Prime Minister Andrew Holness, and other dignitaries.
President Kovind arrived on May 15, accompanied by his wife Savita Kovind, on the first leg of his two-nation journey, which would also take him to St Vincent and the Grenadines. The President's Office tweeted, "Sir Patrick Allen, Governor-General of Jamaica, and Prime Minister Andrew Holness met President Kovind at the airport."Â
"The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishing of diplomatic relations between the two countries. On his arrival, the President was greeted by a guard of honour "it said.
Prime Minister Holness expressed his delight at the opportunity to greet Kovind and his wife in Jamaica.
