New Delhi: India's PM Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to Tamil poet and saint Thiruvalluvar and said his ideals have made a positive impact on people of every generation. He has also requested the youth across the country to read the Kural composed by Thiruvalluvar.

He took to Twitter and wrote, "I bow to the venerable Thiruvalluvar on Thiruvalluvar Day. His thoughts and works reflect the immense knowledge as well as wisdom he was blessed with. People across generations have been positively impacted by his ideals. I urge more youngsters across India to read the Kural."

The Government of Tamil Nadu is celebrating Thiruvalluvar Day every year on 15th January. Tirukkural or 'Kural' composed by Thiruvalluvar is an ancient revered masterpiece of Tamil language.
