New Delhi, July 25: In an RTI(Right To Information) application filed by a retired government official to seek the information related to the electricity bill of Prime Minister’s residence got a strange move when the responsible authority informed that there is no electric meter that was installed separately for PM’s house hence the information sought can’t provide to the applicant.
Jagdish Singh Walia, The retired officer who was also a Gurgaon-based RTI activist submitted an RTI to Central Public Works Department (CPWD) where he asked for the expenditure incurred over the electricity bill of PM’s residence. In addition, he also sought information that the conventional lights were replaced by the LED bulbs or not in PM’s house.
Notably, the applicant asked for the conventional lights replacement in 7, Lok Kalyan Marg as once he watched a video footage where PM Modi claimed that all of the government building observed changes as LED lights are replaced the conventional lights there. The applicant expressed that “I wanted to check if the Prime Minister himself concentrates on saving electricity at his residence- 7, Lok Kalyan Marg,”
CPWD, the body which is responsible for the maintenance of government building which also includes Parliament, the Rashtrapati Bhawan, and the Prime minister’s residence in the response of the RTI reverted: “The information sought was exempt as per section 7(9) of the RTI act as it not readily available”
Times Now reports suggest that Walia have also filed for another RTI where he asked for whole Prime minister’s residential complex’s electricity bill and the reply is still pending for the same.
