Lata Mangeskar, this name needs no introduction, Lata Mangeskar is one of the best singers born in India. She has given various Iconic Songs in her life. Lata Mangeskar represents the word music in India. Lata Mangeshkar, also known as the 'Nightingale of India', was one of the most versatile singers in the Indian film industry. Lata was born on September 28, 1929, to classical singer and theatre artist Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shevanti in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Narendra Modi on Lata Mangeshkar Birth Anniversary 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a great Bond with Lata Mangeskar. On her birth anniversary, he took to his social media and wrote, “Remembering Lata Didi on her birth anniversary. There is so much that I recall…the innumerable interactions in which she would shower so much affection. I am glad that today, a Chowk in Ayodhya will be named after her. It is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest Indian icons.”

When Modi was chief minister of Gujarat, he was invited by Lata Didi and her family to inaugurate a super-speciality hospital in Pune which was built in memory of her late father Deenanath Mangeshkar. During the event, Lata Didi had said, ’I pray to God that we see Narendra Bhai as PM’. Lata Didi had said this much before 2014 elections.

Awards and Recognition

Lata Mangeshkar received several awards and accolades during her eight-decade-long career. In 1974, she became the first Indian to perform at the Royal Albert Hall. She is the recipient of three National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and many more. Lata Mangeshkar was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989. In 2001, she was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour. The government of France conferred on her its highest civilian award (Officer of the Legion of Honour) in 2007. Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6 at the age of 92.
