Princepal Singh signs up with New Zealand Breakers in Australia's NBL

MUMBAI: India's top basketball player, Princepal Singh, has signed a contract to play for the New Zealand Breakers in the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia next season. On Wednesday, the Auckland-based club announced the signing of Princepal Singh, a 20-year-old power forward who stands 6'9" in his shoes, to a two-year development contract with a third-year option.

Singh, who played for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Summer League 2021 and was recently selected by the Stockton Kings in the NBA G-League draught, became the first NBA Academy graduate to sign with the NBA Ignite in the NBA G-League in 2020. After Palpreet Singh Brar, he is the second Indian player to be drafted by a G-League team. Singh stated that he chose to play for the Breakers because it has proven to be a successful NBL team.

"With players like RJ Hampton, Ousmane Dieng, and Hugo Besson, the Breakers have proven that they are the best team in the world at developing players. I'm really looking forward to joining the team and continuing my education with Dan Shamir "While making the announcement of his signing, Singh was quoted by the Breakers as saying.
