Inmates clash with each other over watching TV in Tihar Jail

New Delhi: Two prisoners attacked a prisoner in Tihar Jail in the national capital after an argument over watching TV. Officials gave information in this regard on Thursday. Officials said the incident took place in jail number five on Wednesday. A senior jail official said the clash took place in the barrack where the criminals between the ages of 18 and 21 are lodged.  

He said that during the clash, two prisoners attacked another prisoner with a sharp object. Officials said the injured prisoner suffered injuries on his face. He was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Hospital for treatment, from where he was discharged after treatment. Earlier, when the search operation was carried out in the jail, the prisoners attacked the jail staff with a sharp weapons. Seven wardens were injured in the attack.  

16 prisoners also injured themselves by throwing their heads on the wall. The jail authorities had received information about the inmates in jail number one, four and eight having mobiles, knives and intoxicants. On this basis, a search operation was carried out inside Tihar.
