Actor Prithviraj Kapoor's name is also included in the few artists who made their mark from the era of silent cinema to black and white and colour cinema. Prithviraj Kapoor was born on 3 November 1906 in the sea of ​​Lyallpur (presently Faisalabad). But this area became a part of Pakistan after the partition. His father Basheswarnath Kapoor was an officer in the Indian Imperial Police.

When Prithviraj Kapoor was 3 years old, his mother passed away. Prithviraj was fond of acting since his childhood days. And completing this hobby, he made his acting debut with the theatre of Lyallpur and Peshawar. At the age of just 8 years, he took part in school drama for the first time and after that his attachment to plays increased significantly until he took a bachelor's degree from Edward College in Peshawar. After that, he came to Lahore because of his love for theatre, but here he could not find work in any drama troupe because of his education.

He then arrived in Mumbai in 1929, looking for work and became an additional artist in the Imperial Film Company without pay. During this time in the 1931 film 'Alamara', he played the role of from youth to old age at the age of 24. His character of Akbar in the film 'Mughal-e-Azam' is remembered even today.

The 1941 Sohrab Modi directorial film Sikander was the film that made Prithviraj Kapoor a superstar. Not many know that his film Mughal-e-Azam Hindi proved to be a milestone in cinema. And this film became the highest-grossing film in the history of Hindi cinema and this record was maintained for about 15 years. Prithviraj Kapoor said goodbye to the world on May 29, 1972, at the age of 65.
