New Delhi: The government is considering handing over the debt-ridden government-owned Air India to Private giants. The government said that it is ready for privatization and companies and potential buyers are showing interest in its acquisition. Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that he is getting calls from all over the world to get information in this regard. He said that the acquisition would be completed in the shortest possible time with a better agreement.

According to the minister, those who buy Air India will be able to run it according to the rules of private companies. Parliament approved the amendment to the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority of India Bill, 2019 on the 3rd of this month. The government had said that it is committed to privatizing Air India as its debt has exceeded capacity. The government had also prepared for the disinvestment of Air India last year.

But at that time it could not find a single buyer. According to experts, the government had put many conditions for disinvestment, which potential buyers were finding difficult to comply with. Oil companies said that due to non-payment, the supply of fuel has been stopped. Oil companies have done this many times.
