Priya Dutt pens to Rahul Gandhi, announces ‘don’t want to contest 2019 Lok Sabha election’

In a major setback to the grand old Congress party, former Member of Parliament Priya Dutt has announced that she is not willing to contest the 2019 general election. Priya Dutt has written a letter to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi asserting she does not want to fight the Lok Sabha election.

Sources also said that Priya Dutt, who is a daughter of actor-turned-politician late Sunil Dutt, cited factions within the Mumbai unit of the Congress party as the major cause for her decision.

Worth mention here this is not the first instance when the former Congress MP has raised his voice on the functioning of the party. Post the party’s poll fiasco in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2017, Priya Dutt had asserted that the Congress suffered from “autoimmune disease”.

 

 

“Cong has shown repeatedly thatit suffers from an autoimmune disease Cong destroys Cong we need to be treated from within to be healthy again,” she had stated on microblogging website Twitter.

 

Prior to this She had acclaimed however Rahul Gandhi, who was then the vice president of the Congress party, dubbing him “a good leader”, who was “trying to lead the decades old party in a certain direction.
