NEW DELHI: Amid the crisis over the ongoing Congress presidency, Rahul Gandhi is adamant that no member of his family will be the acting as the president of the party, while the demand to make his sister Priyank Gandhi as Congress President has gained momentum. The Congress is running without a president amid the ongoing tussle between the senior and senior party leaders and the youth leaders.

Senior party leader Priyanka Gandhi is firmly in favor of making her president, while a section of young leaders are supporting Rahul Gandhi's plan. Rahul may be against the appointment of a family member as president, but Priyanka's Sonbhadra show has won the hearts of many outside the party and the party.

Those around Sonia Gandhi believe that after Priyanka Gandhi became active in Uttar Pradesh, she has found a winner. This is not acceptable to Paruntu Rahul. Punjab CM Amarinder Singh and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor are among the leaders who have supported Priyanka Gandhi. Amarinder Singh said on Monday that Priyanka Gandhi will be the right choice but the decision has to be taken by the Congress executive.

"Priyanka is a great choice for the next president who will get the support of all. Shashi Tharoor agrees that his natural charisma will inspire activists and voters alike. It is expected that the CWC will take a decision on this immediately. Priyanka Gandhi is fully active against the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh and she is attacking CM Yogi Adityanath every day.

According to several leaders, the delay in the appointment of the executive chairman is causing the party to suffer, which is still without the chairman. The absence of a leader has created doubts in the minds of the people and the Congress lost power in an important southern state of Karnataka because of lack of clear guidelines from the high command to the state leadership.
