Lucknow: Congress party's national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has given a statement regarding the controversy over the hijab in some educational institutions of Karnataka. He said that it is the right of women to decide what to wear and harassment regarding clothes should be stopped. She tweeted with the hashtag 'I am a girl, can fight' and wrote that, 'Whether it is bikini, veil, jeans or hijab, women have the right to decide what to wear.'

The National General Secretary of the Congress said that, 'This right has been guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. Stop the oppression of women.' There have been agitations in favor and against 'hijab' in some educational institutions in Karnataka in recent times. In the midst of this controversy, the state government has declared a holiday in schools and colleges in the state for the next three days. At the same time, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said about the ongoing ruckus on Hijab in Karnataka that, in our country, the economic, social, educational rights of minority people are equal. That's why any kind of ruckus on hijab is not right.

Naqvi said that the institutions which have their own dress code, do not hit the communal nail on it. At the same time, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said that, this has been done deliberately to polarize votes, some people are trying to fight Hindu-Muslim, but Karnataka has always been united. Political parties are working behind this.
