Proctor & Gamble: After India banned 344 drugs,stop selling Vicks Action 500 Extra

Mumbai: On Tuesday, Procter & Gamble’s( U.S. consumer health giant),its India unit said it had stopped manufacture and sale of its cough and cold popular medicine “Vicks Action 500 Extra which provide immediate effect, after the government and regulators banned it.

Vicks- Action is a fixed dose combination of Paracetamol,Caffeine and Phenylephrine which was now banned by the India’s Health Ministry, after the notice issued over the weekend- P&G Hygiene and Health Care Ltd informed the stock exchange.

Indian Health Ministry had banned 344 drug combination of fixed dose including several antibiotics and analgesics in WHICH Vicks Action 500 is one, according to ministry, all 344 drug are combination lacked "therapeutic justification."

P&G Said, “all the products, including Vicks Action 500 Extra, were backed by research to support their quality, safety and efficacy”
