New Zealand said on Monday that it is ready to host the first professional tournament of the South Hemisphere after the lockdown due to Covid-19. The men's Premier League tournament will be played in Auckland next month in which 24 players will participate.
These players will join three teams and the matches will be played without spectators for three weeks. Tennis New Zealand Director of High-Performance Christoph Lambert said the tournament would begin on June 3 in which experienced ATP players would face upbeat New Zealand players.
He said, "The New Zealand Premier League will give our best players a chance to have a competitive environment so that they will be fully prepared to play in it once the professional circuit resumes." The number 77 players in the world grew up in New Zealand, Cameron Nori and many other players of the New Zealand Davis Cup team are among the participating players.
