Amaravati: Campaigns of other religions were shown on LED screens by a local TV channel, soon after the relay of Dussehra celebrations on Thursday night at Indrakeeladrim, the abode of Goddess Kanaka Durga in Vijayawada amid Dussehra celebrations. Due to which the agitated devotees damaged the LED screen installed near the road on the banks of the Krishna river. And on the promotion of other religions on the LED screen, the devotees expressed their indignation.The Information and Public Relations Department entrusted the live screening of Dussehra celebrations to a local TV channel.
Campaigns of other religions appeared on LED screens soon after the relay of Dussehra celebrations on Thursday night. And agitated people damaged an LED screen on the banks of the river Krishna. Meanwhile, the temple authorities filed a police complaint to probe the incident, to clarify whether the promotion of another religion was done intentionally or by mistake. Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders met executive officer D Brahmaramba and submitted a memorandum demanding action against the guilty officials. The EO assured them that special attention would be given to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
On the complaint of the executive officer, a case has been registered against the TV channel at One Town police station and investigation has been started by collecting CCTV footage. BJP leader Vishnuvardhan Reddy condemned the propaganda campaign of another religion in the Kanaka Durga temple, terming it the negligence of the officials of the Endowment Department. He demanded action against the guilty officials.
