Bangalore: The Bidar district police in Karnataka have arrested 19 people for allegedly assaulting a youth from Basavakalyan taluk for allegedly making controversial posts against Prophet Muhammad. In fact, a young man named Sripad Talmadgi had allegedly posted a picture of the lockup with controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad. Let me tell you that an FIR has also been lodged against Sripad.

It may be recalled that already there were protests in Bengaluru, Belagavi and Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka over bjp leaders' remarks on Prophet Muhammad. However, two BJP leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal, who had made statements on prophethood, were suspended from the party. But even after this, in Belagavi district of Karnataka, fundamentalists hung an effigy with the picture of Nupur Sharma on the beach road. In May, Nupur Sharma (who was the spokesperson of the BJP) had made a statement about prophet Muhammad in a TV debate. This led to a lot of outrage at the global level.

Let us know that 14 Muslim countries, including Qatar, Pakistan and Afghanistan, had targeted India over the comments. However, taha siddiqui, a Pakistani journalist, Canadian writer of Pakistani origin Tarek Fateh, Holland MP Girt Vilders, supported Nupur Sharma's statement, saying that there is nothing wrong in his (Nupur's) statement, it is the same as what is written in the hadith.
