Lucknow: On August 5, PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya between 11:30 am and 12:30 am. This day is going to be historic for Palampur in Kangra district of Himachal. The reason is that 31 years ago, the proposal to build Ram temple had been passed in Palampur itself. At Palampur on June 11, 1989, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani, and Shanta Kumar proposed the construction of Ram temple.

On this day, a meeting of the National BJP Working Committee was held for 3 days in Palampur. In this 3-day meeting, the party started brainstorming about the construction of Ram temple, and after which it was decided that a grand Ram temple will be constructed in Ayodhya. Shanta Kumar was the President of the State BJP at that time. On the third day of the meeting, when LK Advani proposed the construction of the Ram temple with the consent of everyone, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in his known style, silently gave his consent with a smile. Former CM Shanta Kumar, who was the head of this meeting held in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, was the president of the state BJP at that time.

He had invited the BJP Working Committee in Palampur to senior party leaders. Former CM Shanta Kumar says that the resolution taken to build the Ram temple in Palampur in June 1989 is going to be fulfilled by PM Modi today. This makes them feel proud because the proposal for the construction of Ram temple was issued in Palampur itself. He told that in the meeting, the top leadership of the party including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani, Vijayaraje Scindia, Murali Manohar Joshi were in Palampur.
