Patna: Bihar Police has got a big success. Notorious agent Shamsher Khalifa, who held women and minor girls hostage and forced them into prostitution, has been arrested. The notorious criminal Khalifa used to conduct his illegal activities in the Begusarai area. However, his network is spread over other districts of Bihar including Katihar, and Purnia.

The Begusarai police informed by tweeting that, ''The notorious criminal Shamsher Khalifa, who took minor girls and women hostage for prostitution, has been arrested by the police on Tuesday (January 31). During the raid last month, the police rescued two minor girls from the base of Shamsher Khalifa.'' However, Shamsher Khalifa managed to escape during the police action at that time. The police then arrested 7 women and 8 men. Since then, the police were continuously raiding for the arrest of Khalifa.

Begusarai SP Yogendra Kumar has said, 'Shamsher used to get minor girls and women hostage and get them engaged in prostitution. This is his ancestral business. We had formed teams to arrest him. Last month, during the raid on his base in the Ballia police station area, he escaped, but this time we were keeping a close watch on him. We succeeded in catching him.'

SP Yogendra Kumar further said that he has one case of murder and three cases of prostitution registered against him. His name is included in the top ten wanted criminals in the district. He said that Shamsher has earned immense wealth from prostitution. Now his properties will also be investigated. Police are hopeful that after the arrest of this notorious criminal, there will be a reduction in prostitution in the area.
