THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Protests demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan entered the third day on Monday, after the gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh claimed CM Pinarayi and his family were also involved.

The demonstration that began in Kottayam on Saturday continued on Sunday, and the scenario in Kannur, his hometown, was no different on Monday.

Swapna said last week that Vijayan, his wife, and their daughter were involved in money and gold smuggling. The Congress and the BJP have been clamouring for Vijayan's resignation since then.

Following the agitations, the state government has issued a directive prohibiting anyone from wearing a black mask or attire to any occasion presided over by Vijayan.

All those who flew black flags at him were apprehended by police, who are out in force across the six regions where he has been travelling by vehicle since Saturday. Police roughed up members of the Congress party's youth wing who were protesting in front of the Government Guest House where Vijayan was staying in Kannur.
