The death of a Dalit student triggered violence in the city of Allahabad. A bus was torched on its way to Teliyarganj when some youths stopped the bus, asked the people onboard to get out, poured an inflammable substance and finally torched. 

A Dalit student named Dilip Saroj, studying at the Allahabad Degree College was beaten with iron rods and bricks before he succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in the city. He was beaten by three men over a verbal argument with them. Dilip was eating at an eatery with two friends alike the perpetrators. Saroj and his friends acted violently and beat them with chairs to which the other men retaliated with an iron rod. Amit Upadhyay, the owner of the hotel dragged Dilip out along with his staff and beat him to death. 

Police informed the Fire Brigade and the fire was extinguished. "We're trying to identify the troublemakers. Strict action will be initiated against them." Senior superintendent of police, Akash Kulhary informed.

Another protest demonstration was held at the Colonelganj Police Station and the protesters marched from Colonelganj police station to the District Magistrate's office. The police also informed about the arrest of the culprits identified through numerous videos circulated on social media.
