Proteas leg spinner Imran Tahir and former skipper of Sri Lanka Kumar Sangakakra starred for the Multan Sultans as they crushed the Quetta Gladiators by nine wickets in the Pakistan Super League on Saturday at at Sharjah. First it was Tahir's hat-trick, who helped the Sultans bowl out the Gladiators for a paltry 102 from 15.4 overs and the good work was then carried on by the Sri Lankan veteran to take the Sultans home in the 17th over.

Earlier, won the toss and opting to filed first, the Sultans were off to a decent start, but once Sohail Tanvir removed Umar Amin in the fourth over, it was a downward ride for the Gladiators. They lost Rameez Raja two balls later and the experienced Shane Watson also departed two overs later leaving the QG's at 46/3 from 6.2 overs.

Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and Rilee Rossouw did try to steady the ship but the South African perished for a 8-ball 9 in the 10th over to Shoaib Malik while trying to up the ante. Sarfraz Ahmed tried to build the innings and take the team total to a respectable position but wickets kept falling and he finally gave in and fell for a 33-ball 30 in the 15th over. After that, the Gladiators could only manage one run before Tahir walked in and got three in three to finish the Quetta innings for 102 in the 16th over. Tahir got the wickets of Hasan Khan, John Hastings and Rahat Ali to finish with figures of 3/19 from his 2.4 overs.
