New Delhi: If you come to the priority group of getting corona vaccine and have not taken a single dose of corona so far, read this news carefully. A research has revealed that a single dose of vaccine halves the infection rate. According to a new study by Public Health England (PHE), a dose of Oxford/Astrazeneca or Pfizer/Bionic vaccine also halves the infection rate of Covid-19.
Under the vaccination drive currently being run by the National Health Service (NHS), people who were infected within three weeks of getting a vaccine were less likely to be infected with those who did not get the vaccine between 38 and 49 per cent. PHE also found that protection from corona virus was observed 14 days after vaccination and age and contacts showed no effect on this protection. The new research, which came out on Wednesday, is yet to be fully reviewed by experts.
During the study, more than 57,000 people from 24,000 households were contacted, where there was at least one patient of covid-19 confirmed by the laboratory, who had been given a dose of the vaccine, compared to about 1million people who did not get the vaccine. A person who came in contact with a person who came in contact with him within two to 14 days after he was infected with the vaccine at home was defined as a secondary case in case of corona virus infection. Most of those involved in the study were under 60 years of age.
