Puducherry: Five ministers were included in the NDA cabinet in Puducherry on Sunday amid the corona crisis. CM N. Rangaswamy was sworn in, after two months the new Ministers have been included in the Cabinet. Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundarrajan administered the oath of office to all the five ministers at Raj Niwas.

Among the ministers who took oath are A. Namashivayam, K. Lakshminarayanan, C. Dijayakumar, Chandrika Priyanga and AK Sai J Sarwan Kumar. Everyone took oath as a witness to God. CM Rangaswamy and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Lakshminarayanan, Dijayakumar and Priyanga are leaders of AINRC while Namshivayam and Shravan Kumar are BJP leaders.

This is the first time in the Union Territory that the saffron party has joined the cabinet. The woman who became a minister last time in Puducherry was late Congress leader Renuka Appadurai, who held the education ministry in MDR Ramachandran's government from 1980-83. Ending the more than a month-long suspense over the formation of the Cabinet, CM N Rangaswamy had submitted the list of members to be included in his Ministry on June 23 to Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Sundararajan, which was later approved by the President.
