Puducherry: The total number of infection cases has increased to 1,21,989 in the Union Territory of Puducherry in the last 24 hours after 109 new cases of corona infection were reported. A senior health department official said in this regard on Thursday. Health Director G Sriramulu said two more people died of an infection in Puducherry and one in Mahe, taking the death toll to 1,803.
According to reports, the health department has so far examined 15.63 lakh samples and 13.36 lakh of them were found negative. The health department director said the infection rate is 1.96 percent, while the deceased rate and the recovery rate are 1.48 percent and 97.77 percent respectively. Sriramulu said that till 10 am on Thursday, out of the new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the highest number of 77 cases have come to the Puducherry region, while 21 cases have been registered in Mahe, 10 in Karaikal, and one in Yanam.
The number of patients undergoing treatment in the Union Territory is 914, out of which 200 patients are being treated in the hospital and the rest in separate residences at home. The Health Director informed that a total of 7.50 lakh people have been vaccinated in the Union Territory. These include people who have taken the second dose.
