Corona continues to wreak havoc in Puducherry, 117 new patients found in last 24 hours

Puducherry: The Union Territory of Puducherry has reported 117 new cases of corona infection in the last 24 hours till 10 am on Wednesday, taking the total number of corona virus-infected people to 1,25,735. Out of the new cases in the Union Territory, 73 cases have been registered from Puducherry, 29 from Karaikal, one from Yanam and 14 from Mahe.

Two patients from the Karaikal area lost their lives due to infection, taking the total death toll to 1,834. Director of Health and Family Welfare Services Sriramulu has informed us that 945 patients are undergoing treatment here. In the last 24 hours, 92 patients have been discharged after recovery. A total of 1,22,956 patients have recovered from infection in the Union Territory so far. The infection rate here is 2.30 per cent and the mortality and the recovery rate are 1.46 per cent and 97.79 per cent respectively.

Sriramulu said that so far 9,32,694 doses of the corona vaccine have been given. Meanwhile, 26,964 new cases of corona infection have been registered in the country today. While 383 patients have died during this period. In the last 24 hours, 34,167 patients have recovered, taking the number of recoverers from corona to 3,27,83,741 so far. The Union Health Ministry said that active cases of coronavirus in the country have now come down to 3,01,989 lakh, which is 0.90 per cent of the total cases and the lowest in 186 days.
