Puja Banerjee, an actress who wed Kunal Verma in a traditional ceremony in November of last year, celebrated her first Sindoor Khela today at a Kali temple in Goregaon. Along with her husband Kunal, the actress was also carrying Krishiv, her one-year-old son.

Puja stated: "Our traditional wedding took place in November of the previous year after a court wedding in April of 2020. But we were unable to observe any festivals because of the pandemic. Technically speaking, this was my first Durga Puja, Dusshera, and Sindoor Khela since getting married. For Durga Puja this year, I travelled to Kolkata. On Navami in Mumbai, my husband Kunal and I visited the pandals when I got back on Monday."

When discussing the Bengali Sindoor Khela tradition, she said: "Along with Kunal and Krishiv, I entered the red and white Bengali saree and headed to the Kali temple. We played with the sindoor, which was placed close to Maa Durga's feet, after offering our prayers. On top of that, Kunal gave me sindoor. Being surrounded by Kunal and Krishiv as we celebrated it together made it extra special. I'm happy that, after two years, we can now enthusiastically observe every holiday. I used to go to the Sindoor Khela when I was younger, but now that I'm married, it holds a special place in my heart. There were a lot of other women there as well, enjoying the custom."

Puja, who played Puja in Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev, is concentrating on Bengali film and web projects at the moment. She uttered, "While I haven't been able to concentrate on TV, I do have a few projects in Kolkata and will need to return there to continue working. My son's birthday is next week, so after the celebration I'll return to Kolkata."
