Pune: The commissioner of the Maharashtra State Council Of Examination (MSEC) has been arrested by the Pune police in connection with alleged malpractices in the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET), a senior official said on Friday.

"After questioning on the suspected malpractices in the TET test, Tukaram Supe, the commissioner of MSCE, was detained by the cyber cell of Pune police," city police commissioner Amitabh Gupta said. According to authorities, the suspected TET misconduct was found during an inquiry into a paper leak in the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) test, in which six persons had already been arrested.

On November 21, Maharashtra's teacher eligibility test (TET) was held. According to sources, over 10 lakh people enrolled for the exam, which was held in two shifts.

This exam was originally set for October but was postponed due to the by-elections in the Deglur-Biloli Vidhan Sabha Constituency. Maharashtra Teachers' Eligibility Test 2021 is held to determine the qualifications of candidates who will be appointed as teachers in the state.
