Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has issued a thorough probe on Saturday in the wall collapse incident in Pune. It has also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who died. 15 people have died in the incident. Fadnavis tweeted, "I am saddened to hear of the news of the death of people in the wall collapse at Kondhwa in Pune. My condolences to the family of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery. The Pune Collector has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation into the case," he said.

State Congress President Ashok Chavan also expressed grief over the incident and appealed to the state government to provide all possible assistance to the affected families. He said the incident should be investigated so that the culprits are severely punished. It may be mentioned that at least 15 people, including four children, were killed when a wall of a residential complex collapsed on a slum in Pune due to Brisbane. The huts were built for the laborers working at the construction site.

According to Pune District Magistrate Naval Kishore Ram, the wall collapsed due to heavy rains. It has exposed the negligence of the construction company. Most of the casualties include laborers from Bihar and West Bengal. The government will provide assistance to the victims.
