Amritsar: A case of a Congress worker being attacked with a sword by supporters of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at Tarn Taran in Panjab on Wednesday (April 13, 2022) has come to light. It is being told that around 30 blows have been inflicted on the Congress worker. The injured person has been admitted to the hospital in a serious condition. A case has been registered in this case after the intervention of the SSP. The reason for the dispute is said to be the complaint of drug trafficking. At the same time, some media organizations are also calling it a political vendetta.

According to media reports, the case is of village Thian Mahanta. Dilbagh Singh, a resident of this place, is a Congress worker. During the Punjab assembly elections, he had a conversation with some AAP supporters. On the day of the incident, Dilbagh Singh had gone on a motorcycle to a private school in Nowshera Panua to get his 3-year-old daughter admitted around 11 am. During this time, they were attacked by about 5 to 7 attackers with sharp weapons. About 30 times were carried out while attacking his hands, legs and head.

After the attack, the attackers fled leaving the injured Congress worker suffering on the roadside. He has been admitted to Amandeep Hospital in Amritsar in critical condition. SSP Ranjit Singh Dhillon has recorded the statement of the victim and directed to lodge an FIR against the accused. At the same time, the family members of the victim Dilbagh Singh have accused the AAP supporters of attacking them. According to Dilbagh, he had been receiving threats in the past.
