Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab has gotten in an internal clash with AAP MLAs condemning Arvind Kejriwal’s apology to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia. The move has been opposed by AAP leaders from Punjab. The leaders held a press conference and criticised Kejriwal for his decision to apologise.
Earlier in the day, Bhagwant Mann resinged from the post of AAP Punjab unit chief.
AAP’s Sukhpal Khaira, who is also the leader of opposition in Punjab assembly, told the media that AAP MLA’s will take a final decision on the matter by 4:30 PM and added that the decision will be in Punjab’s favour.
“I fail to understand the timing of Kejriwal’s apology when STF of PB has stated to the High Court today that there’s substantial evidence to proceed against Bikram Majitha on the issue of drugs,” said Khaira.
Aam Aadmi Party’s chief spokesperson Harjot Bains lashed out at Kejriwal for his comments and said,
“I have seen the pain of parents who lost their young ones due to and they blame Bikram Majithia for it. Hereby I still believe that Bikram Majithia was involved in drugs until he is given a clean chit after a thorough independent enquiry by CBI.”
On Thursday, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal apologised to Majithia for his remarks alleging the latter of indulging in the drug trade in Punjab. In a letter to Majithia, Kejriwal extended an apology for his statements and termed them as unfounded.
