Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet has decided to grant Rs 1,000 as one time grant per beneficiary over and above the monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,500 being given to old, widow, destitute women, dependent kids and disabled persons in a bid to alleviate their hardships amid COVID-19 pandemic.

This cash support would be deposited right away into beneficiaries' bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and would aid them in meeting their home requirements. The state exchequer would be charged Rs. 277.13 crore for this one-time grant, which will benefit 27.71 lakh people.

The Cabinet also approved the release of Rs. 25 crores to the 'Guru Ravidass Bani Adhayayn Centre Committee, Dera Sachkhand Ballan', which was already allocated to Jalandhar district by the Planning Department under the Punjab Nirman Programme on December 31, 2021, after relaxing the Planning Department's guidelines dated August 25, 2021, by treating it as a special case on a one-time basis.

The Punjab Transparency in Public Procurement Rules, 2022, were approved by the Cabinet. These regulations aim to ensure that the intended outcomes are delivered on time, with efficiency, economy, integrity, and accountability, transparency, fair and equitable treatment of bidders, and public confidence in the process's good governance, as well as for things related to or incidental to it.
