Chandigarh: The Modi government at the Centre has decided to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib corridor from Wednesday. This was announced by Union minister Amit Shah on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Punjab CM Charanjeet Singh Channi has announced that the entire state cabinet will pay obeisance at Sri Kartarpur Sahib on November 18 as a part of the first delegation after reopening the Kartarpur corridor.

CM Channi said, 'It is a happy moment that Kartarpur corridor is opening again and prayers of sikh community are being answered. I had met the PM and the Union Home Minister as CM and urged him. Now he has announced, I thank him. The Punjab cabinet will join the first batch to pay obeisance on November 18'. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal said, 'I am very happy that the Kartarpur corridor has been reopened. Harsimrat Kaur Badal and I wrote to PM Modi. It's good that the corridor is opening back. It was a demand of a lot of people, which is being fulfilled today.

Kartar Pur corridor connects Gurudwara Darbar Sahib, the last resting place of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, with Dera Baba Nanak Gurudwara in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on the decision that the decision reflects the Modi government's immense reverence for Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the Sikh community.
